Trains, Friends, Photos and Lemonade.

This little guy has completed his first year of school. We celebrated by taking him to his very favorite place in the world... the Train Museum. We left the house early, and told him that he could spend as much time there as he'd like, after all- he earned it!

We left the house early, around 9 a.m. We were through the doors when the museum opened at 10... and we explored every nook and cranny. I love how magical it is for them...
He gets so lost in all the goodies behind the glass. I know how he feels... I've window shopped many a time... and lovingly gazed at a pair of shoes looking just like he is!
The boys always love playing with the train table... this time Dad even packed their favorite wooden trains. A Steam Engine for Zach, and a Diesel for Kyle- ying and yang strike again. :)
We decided our thirst was getting the best of us... so we ventured outside to check out some of the outdoor fun.
(I look at this picture and wander where all the time has gone... he was just a drooling baby holding on to the train table with all his might.) It was almost 97 degrees... so we found a cool place-
next to the candy shop that served fresh squeezed lemonade... and chocolate covered rice crispy treats!

About that time, my friends from Oregon that were here visiting met up with us.
This is Flo, and she's one of the most fabulous people you'll ever meet in your lifetime. I was lucky enough to meet her during a painting seminar... and I think we've been friends every since. If I'm lucky enough, I'll grow up to be just like her...

but I can't imagine ever being that fabulous!
She traveled with her daughter, Jenn... and two of her grand babies. Carter is on the left... and we did our very best to spark his interest in trains. His passion is tractors and trucks... but I think we did a good job exposing him to our corner of the train world!

He liked the museum, but kept asking for a train ride. He came to the right place... that's for sure!
We know how to deliver... cause that's how we roll here in California!

All Aboard! John and Flo took the munchkins on the train... and Jenn and I took some much needed retail therapy time! So many little shops in Old Sac, and so little time!
After spending most of the day there... we headed home. We stopped for dinner, and got our second wind. So we went to one of mommy's favorite places: Barnes and Noble.
We bought several new train books... and some much important summer reading for long days next to the pool.
Finally, we arrived home after 8:30... and I think we all crashed by 10. It was so much fun to spend the day as a family... celebrating Zach's 'graduation' from kindergarten... and visiting with old friends! It was a magical day... with sprinkles on top!

These are pictures of Thursday night, when Jenn and Flo stayed with us. My very talented friend is a professional photographer... so for fun, guess what we do?
Took the kids to the back of the property... and snapped some fun pictures!
I am afraid Carter will never be the same after watching Kyle the Ham.

This little princess is Baby Gracie. We were told she doesn't care much for strangers to hold her... but we didn't even hear a peep out of her! And they don't get stranger than us! lol

Of course, we had to bribe the group to sit and look at the camera... for Popsicles!
And then a bit of bouncing on the trampoline...

So after the munchkins were down, Flo and I stayed up till midnight. She was teaching me all the Photo Shop magic she uses... and I must admit... I was in heaven. Sadly though, I'm getting too old to pull an all-niter... and I bet my Friday clients appreciated me getting a bit of sleep!
Thanks Jenn and Flo for a wonderful visit. It was WAY too short... we miss you already.
